We all seem to spend time on the old laptop or desktop PC and still we find we don't know all that much about what we are using. Hopefully Mr Dprince can supply a few tips and recommendations that will be handy.

Maxthon Browser Doing Great
I spent late last night working on my laptop. I foolishly updated my Maxthon browser. I found out by accident that my browser was a really old version. I learned quickly that there was no way to update it except by downloading a newer version.
With most browsers, when you download a newer version it will update itself with all your bookmarks and extensions. This was not the case with Maxthon, so I had to move every item and tool I needed, one by one, to the new browser. Then, I shut down and returned an hour later and restarted. Not one of those bookmarks or extensions were on the browser.
Once again I found each item and applied them to the new browser. Next, I signed up for their cloud and then shut down and restarted. All of those items were not present anywhere. I calmly tried the sync function, since I had signed up for the cloud service. Then I watched as each item came up on the toolbars. Was I relieved. I wasted a lot of man hours doing this, but I was now at peace with Maxthon.
This was the reason for my sleeping all day, today. I guess I needed the change because I slept very well and Maxthon is running great.

Better Than Nuance Dragon
Better Than Nuance Dragon
This is about as good as the Nuance Dragon Speech Recognition software, but without the costs. It has a simple layout that resembles a legal pad. Simply click the tab to begin dictation. Using your microphone or headset with mike, begin speaking your message.

Torch is for Me
When it comes to internet browsers, I am what might be called a fanatic. I always want the up to date version with as many cool whistles and bells as possible. Well, today i had to go back in time to find a truly remarkable browser.
The browser is called Torch. It is an open source software based on the Chromium project. The latest version is 29.0.0.6058. I actually used this browser two or three years back and enjoyed the speed and reliability until something shinier came along.
Today this browser has access to all the Chrome extensions and has increased its performance immensely. I am hooked, for a while anyway.

My Nephew Sent Me Something to Help
My nephew called via his cell phone to tell me sent me a small program that he uses now and again. It is a small word-processor, or notepad might be a better description. It is very simple in nature. Just type in whatever you want and then transfer to wherever you need it or even save to file for later use.

MultiTabber allows me Four Desktops
Today I have added a new piece of software (freeware) to my laptop in the hopes of adding productivity. If you consider all the time I spend playing with the program, I may be defeating the purpose, for the moment. Still, I think I like this enough to keep it a while.
The freeware is called "MultiTabber". I found it while searching for a multi desktop type of environment where I can do several things almost at once. Let me explain. MultiTaber gives me 4 desktops to work with as I choose. On one I have my Spark Browser, on the second I have Browsmart for world news, the third contains Efficient Notes for my article composing and library, finally there is my Firefox browser.
Spark and Firefox are used to keep open Bubblews.com and my GPT sites where I usually have a video playing for the points, but I do not like to watch them. So, I switch to another desktop till it finishes and I reload. Efficient Notes allows me to write and keep a record of my compositions on hand. I can even copy the photos I download for my posts with photo credits into the composition.
MultiTabber puts four small dots in the corner of the screen for me to click on and change desktops quickly with no hot-keys to remember. The program is sleek in design and simple to use. It works for me.
